TDS DRESS CODE POLICY

Girls K-8

SHIRTS

Solid white, navy, or light blue.

Elbow length or long sleeved shirts.

Polo-style collared shirts with one or more buttons. May be worn out if neat in appearance.

No pictures, words or logos except for a small (and non offensive) one on the pocket as placed by the manufacturer.

Students may layer clothing, such as a short-sleeved polo shirt over a long-sleeved style one.

(white or navy only).

SKIRTS

Navy or black uniform skirts.

Girls are encouraged to wear shorts or leggings underneath their skirts.

Skirts must be long enough to cover the knee when seated.

FOOTWEAR

Socks may be any color (without a picture) and must at least cover the ankle. ‘No-shows’ are permitted when being worn over stockings.

Rubber soled shoes or sneakers with reasonable heels only.

No Five-Finger shoes, clogs, crocs, sandals, flip-flops, open-backed, open-toed footwear, or shoes with retractable wheels.

OUTERWEAR

Zip-up sweatshirts, sweaters, and cardigans may be worn in white or navy only and must be neat in appearance.

Students may not wear coats, raingear, or heavy jackets in class.

ACCESSORIES

Hats, bandanas, sunglasses, and caps may be worn outdoors during recess only.

Age appropriate jewelry only please.

Light colored nail polish only.

No makeup or perfume.

Boys K-8

Kippot, tzitzis, and socks must be worn at all times in school and during any school activity.

Caps may be worn outdoors only.

Solid black or navy blue pants only.

No sweatpants, sweatpants style with elastic or drawstrings, jeans, jean “look-a-likes”, denims, corduroys, or cargo pants

Socks may be any color but without any pictures.

P.E. Dress Code Grades K – 8

GIRLS

Any below-the-knee skirt that allows for comfortable movement. May wear bicycle shorts or leggings underneath skirts for P.E.

Long-sleeved or three-quarter-sleeved t-shirt.

Sneakers are required.

Dress-Up Days (Grades K-8)

Special days, such as Purim or Rosh Chodesh, may be designated by the school as dress-up days. On these occasions, girls should wear blouses or tops with sleeves no shorter than the uniform blouse, necklines no lower than one open button and skirts no shorter than the school uniform. Boys may not wear shorts on dress-up days and girls may not wear pants.

Recess

Students will go outside practically every day for recess, even when it is raining. Please be sure your child brings appropriate outer garments, as all students must go outside together with his/her class for outdoor recess.

Non School-Day School Events

At all school events outside of the regular school day hours, children should be dressed appropriately but need not wear uniforms. Abiding awareness and sensitivity to school policy is expected. Parents - please see that your children are suitably dressed on these occasions.
